About Us

ARCUS began in 1996 as co-operation between Andreas Wetzlinger and Bernd Müsing with the development of the first super-light and super-strong violin bows and their production a revolutionary new process. In 1999 the workshop was set up in Klagenfurt, Austria and the sales office in Würzburg, Germany.

After making and marketing these bows in close co-operation for more than 10 years it became more and more obvious that it would make a lot of sense to put all parts under one roof. After purchasing all equipment and commercial rights in summer 2008 we moved everything into our new premises in Würzburg. We started production in early 2009 and since then work continuously on growing and improving everything.

The new address is: Max-von-Laue-Str. 20, 97080 Würzburg.

Here you can find not only our bows, but also a selection of instruments, strings and accessories.

Bernd Müsing, Owner / President

Cycling, music, engineering - and the intense and direct contact with his fellow human beings, plus his good sense of humor are the constant landmarks of his vita.

There are revolutionary designs of bicycles and components, bicycle tours through many European countries (preferably the Alps), two wonderful children, an even more wonderful wife, plenty of musical events (from weddings to kindergarten-fest - playing violin, viola, guitar or singing), plenty of ensembles - from the school- to a full symphony-orchestra (Ensemble con Brio), plus a couple hundred of devoured books.

His daily routines include the workshop, research and development, marketing, sales and management.

Malte Straubhaar, Engineering

After getting his degree in engineering, his passion for cycling brought him to Bernd Müsing in 1999. Ever since he has been occupied with putting the boss's thoughts and ideas into a numeric shape.

His strong interest in science and technology is satisfied by the complex physical background of the Arcus bows.

Besides cycling, he loves every form of muscle powered transportation, rolling or sliding, to stay fit. The burned calories he likes to replace with the results of his experimental cooking and baking.
