According to the classification we mount our bows in gold, silver or nickel. All bows feature grips cut from high quality cow hide.
Snakewood (Piratinera guianensis) is a very expensive wood and quite difficult to work with. But it is also especially strong and resonates extremely well, which makes it a very good material for baroque and bass bows. It often shows beautiful stripes and speckles, and polishes very nicely. We use it for the frogs of the Cadenza and Concerto bows.
Ebony (Diospyros ebenum) is the most usual material for frogs. It cuts nicely, is not too heavy and is quite strong. We use it for the frogs of the Sinfonia, Sonata and Allegro.
Piratinera is basically snakewood, with all its advantages, but with a more irregular pattern. Often it is very beautiful. We use it for all Veloce frogs.
The Tip plates of all our bows are made from either solid sterling silver or 14K gold. These metal tip plates not only look good but are also very robust and save potential trouble with customs on international travel, as sometimes occurs with ivory or mammoth.
For the most durable and smoothest action of the screw we have integrated two metal bearings into the sticks:
